About Rabiloo
Rabiloo is a technology company founded in December 2016 in Hanoi, including PHP team, Java team, Mobile team, BSE. Rabiloo is a team of experts from the most notable universities in Hanoi. They have successfully completed many web development projects in Vietnam and Japan market.
Puziness is one of Rabiloo’s products. It supports online sales and offers fanpage management software, which helps users sell their goods on Facebook. In Vietnam, it is popular to use fanpage via Facebook platform for sales to compete against other e-commerce companies such as Lazada, Shopee, Sendo. Rabiloo’s plan in 2018 is to strengthen IT infrastructure to serve more customers then they will continue to expand their business.
Challenges
“The current system did not load much access within a short period of time, which could not meet the expectation of raising our users by 30%.” said Mr. Ngo Ngoc Cuong, Rabiloo CEO.
Since online shopping on facebook is popular with Vietnamese, Rabiloo attracted a relatively significant number of shop owners monthly. However, Rabiloo’s physical server only scale vertically instead of scaling up and down automatically, which prevented them from serving more customers as they demanded. Consequently, their business expansion plan was not implemented.
Besides, progress of researching and improving new products could not be accelerated due to physical servers. Even with high operation cost, it did not help them develop and deploy new features for their application.
The more end users they had, the more sales statistics and management data they stored. That required an effective computing mechanism and low-cost storage so as to optimize the operation cost.
“After considering all options, we realized that cloud was the best solution to meet all of our requirements for further business expansion, so we decided to move our system to cloud.” – said Mr. Cuong.
Solutions
To accomplish its business objectives, Rabiloo realized that they need to migrate their system to cloud. They chose Amazon Cloud as it is a highly flexible and effective cloud platform compared to other cloud providers. AWS Advanced Consulting partner OSAM International Limited Company has helped Rabiloo examine the physical system. With their hands-on experience, OSAM detected that physical server was the most remarkable weak point of Rabiloo system.
For eliminating all the obstacles of physical server, OSAM and Rabiloo decided to migrate one part of their system to AWS. With low and steady method, they gradually moved the system to cloud to ensure the efficiency and stability of the new system.
A financial estimate was provided to Rabiloo by OSAM team for helping them determine the total cost of a project and gauge the feasibility of any capital investment.
Along with cloud migration, OSAM redesigned the cloud system and used managed services, (RDS, Elastic Search, ElastiCache, Code Deploy, Code build, Code pipeline, CloudFront, S3) providing ongoing management of AWS infrastructure so Rabiloo can focus on their applications.
Amazon EC2 Auto Scaling is used to increase or decrease the compute capacity of their applications automatically and maintain performance. AWS EC2 also helps Rabiloo cover all the essential backup and recovery features to ensure strength of the backup and DR solution.
Benefits
By implementing best practices to maintain IT infrastructure, AWS Managed Services helps Rabiloo to reduce operational overhead and risk. Mr. Cuong concluded “It’s amazing now the infrastructure can be automatically monitored 24/7 so we do not have to waste our employees’ effort on this. We also love the fact that most of the risk caused by human in the process is eliminated!”
Migration to AWS enhances the system to operate more stably with effective cost and capacity. It also creates a more convenient environment for them to develop and deploy a new application.
When demand drops, AWS Auto Scaling will automatically remove any excess resource capacity so Rabiloo avoids overspending. “Auto Scaling is a key tool for us to maintain steady and predictable performance. It’s extremely important that we only pay for the resources we actually need.” – said Mr. Cuong.
